We Inspire Others Unknowingly

I’ve been writing since 1998. I wasn’t a person who ever dreamed of being a book writer, much less a published author. Yet, here I am.

When I started this adventure, I was just trying to do something with my time after a severe injury impaired my ability to work. Little did I know, my calling and my walk with God started in earnest when I took up a pen and paper — well actually, a computer and keyboard — and began to write.  After many coincidences (and I don’t believe in coincidences) I became a published author in 2010.

In the twenty-one years of this writing journey, I have almost quit more times than I can count. All the doubts, all the feelings of not being good enough, and especially when I doubt writing is my calling, can topple down on me like I’ve bumped a bunch of boxes stacked too high. In these dark times, something always happens to give me new strength and motivation.

One of my favorite memories of intervention is this:  I was praying for God’s guidance and asking Jesus if He truly wanted me to continue writing. Out of the blue, I received an email stating Ravens Cove won the Spirit-Filled Speculative Fiction Award. I did not know the reader; I didn’t even know the reader had obtained a copy of my book. Was this an answer to prayer? I have no doubt. That answer to a prayer kept me going. So presently I am in the process of rewriting my first book, Ravens Cove.  And I am 3,000 words into my fifth book.

Right now, I’m motivated, but I have been stymied about writing an article for you, the members of Readers and Writers Book Club. So why should I be surprised that God, who has given me ideas for my books, also gave me this article? How? He sent me a reminder of why I write, Who I write for, and how I affect others.

My closest friend texted me a prayer. It humbled me to a point where I am determined to continue working and writing for the Most High God.

I’m sharing this prayer because I feel it is a prayer for you and all you touch, too.

Lord of Lords wake me into prayer and adoration of Your amazing love for me and Your world! I pray for my dearest friend and her family today! I thank her for her truth, grace, love, light and belief in You, Jesus; for she brings me to You Lord when I hear her voice and when my thoughts are of her! Thank you, Jesus for her strength she brings to us all!

And, I say, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

No matter your circumstances, no matter the regrets and defeats you’ve been through, you are important to many. Until we reach heaven, we will not know who our lives, our work for that matter, have touched. Yet, I know I have touched others and I know you have, too.

I will continue to work for the Lord, even when I don’t see where it’s leading me. I pray for you and yours, to do the same. Blessings in Christ, my friends!
