This year of twenty-twenty
Will be remembered by many
As the year of the great pandemic
Starting off on the high of a manic
Sinking into lowest depression
The economy into recession
People all over the world are getting sick
But is it not a media trick?
Breaking news of crowded hospital halls,
Compared to empty shopping malls.
Overworked medical staff
Has no reason to laugh.
Empty streets in every city
That used to be so busy
Coffins fill in every church the isles
Hearses lined up for miles
This is the picture TV and newspapers show
Though no one has died that we know.
They tell us we must wash our hands
And they advertise sanitizer brands
Do not touch your loved-ones
You might catch disease at once
Fear, fear, fear
The virus is near.
And then the good news of the cure
A vaccine will soon be available for sure
But why do they hurry
If so many get buried
From diseases high in death rate
With nothing to change their fate?
Yes, this is the year of the great pandemic
But for those who do not panic
The cure is in Isiah (53v5)
They trust in their Messiah
And thank their Saviour
Whose grace does not count behaviour.
